Why I Make What I Make

What I’m Saying

In a fast-paced world, my text art invites you to pause and feel. Each stroke inspires a deeper connection with the present, uncovering the harmony of opposites and the meaning that emerges when we dare to truly see.

Why calligraphy

For me, calligraphy transcends mere writing; it is an art form that allows me to play with words, meanings, and visual elements, evoking emotions and sparking inspiration. The freedom of spontaneous, flowing lines stands in stark contrast to the rigidity of drafting, inviting me to embrace the unpredictability of life and the chaotic whirlwind of our thoughts. The textures, colors, and layers I incorporate into my work reflect this complexity and depth. I discovered my love for working with text while working on a brief during the course. We were challenged to use words to provoke action, which became a powerful and transformative experience for me. It resonated deeply and left a lasting impression. I set this passion aside for several years

Now, as my priorities shifted after having two kids, I feel an overwhelming urge to revisit this love for text and explore the freedom it brings in various aspects of my life. This return to my passion feels like a necessary step toward expressing myself and embracing creativity once again.. Calligraphy is my sanctuary, where I merge my love for structure with my desire for creative freedom. I revel in experimentation, combining opposing elements—precision with spontaneity, control with chaos—to discover unexpected connections that ignite my spirit. This dance between contrasts fuels my artistic passion and keeps me pushing boundaries. I create to inspire others, to urge them to pause, reflect, and uncover something extraordinary within the ordinary. Through my calligraphy, I aim to offer a fresh perspective, encouraging people to see the beauty in contrasts, to recognize the hidden layers of life, and to embrace the connections that often go unnoticed. I dare to explore, to express, and to invite others on a journey of discovery through the transformative power of calligraphy.

Why emotions

I love puns and evoking emotions because they’re a playful and meaningful way to connect with others and with myself. Puns reveal layers of meaning, offering moments of surprise and laughter, while evoking emotions allows me to explore and express who I truly am. It’s about releasing feelings in a healthy, creative way, rather than bottling them up. Whether it’s a clever wordplay or a heartfelt expression, both help me process and share emotions while staying true to myself.

Why hidden messages

I’m drawn to puzzles, stereo pictures, and encrypted messages because they challenge my mind and awaken my curiosity. There’s something magical about the “aha” moment when everything clicks—the rush of excitement and the sense of accomplishment it brings. It’s not just about solving the puzzle but about the journey of discovery and the emotions it stirs within me. These moments feel like uncovering hidden treasures, and the joy of unlocking the answer never gets old.

Why lines

What reminds you of someone you love? Why do I love lines? When I was a kid, I used to watch my grandma work with her drafting instruments—tools for creating technical drawings. I was fascinated by the variety of lines, the precision of rulers and ruling pens, and how all those tiny details came together to create something incredible on a big sheet of paper.

Now, I use my grandma’s instruments in my work, and it feels like a way to keep her close. She was like a second mom to me, and every time I draw, it reminds me of how much she loved me.

I’ve been thinking about making a collection inspired by my mom too, but it feels so personal that it’s hard to even start.
